As a Raleigh native, I have lived my entire life in this area. My father was a professor at N.C. State University for 38 years, and I grew up a diehard Wolfpack fan. In 1979, I graduated in the 50th Golden Anniversary class at Broughton High School in Raleigh. Then, I made a tough decision to attend college at our arch rival, UNC. My college life was only a short distance away in Chapel Hill at the University of North Carolina, where I graduated in 1983 with a BS in Business Administration. I have the unique distinction of being a supporter of both UNC-Chapel Hill and N.C. State University.
My family and I love going to the North Carolina mountains and beaches. The Raleigh area is the perfect place for us because I can be in the mountains or the beach in 3 hours. I strongly suggest that you check out the NC
Travel Guide for all the wonderful places in our state that offer quality and exciting recreation for your family.
With my passion for golf, you would think that I am some kind of expert golfer. Unfortunately, I am a bogey golfer, but I love to play the game. North Carolina
Golf is spread out from the coast to the mountains, with virtually every type of layout imaginable. North Carolina is known for its premier golf courses and clubs, including Pinehurst Resort and Country Club, site for the 1999 and 2005 U.S. Open, and it is only an hour away from Raleigh. Pinehurst is in the "sand hills" area, where dozens of excellent golf courses are open to the public. The beach area also offers some the best premium golf courses open to the public, and the mountain area contains many excellent mountain courses that have a uniquely different layout than the flatter sand hills and beach courses.
I love to hike and camp with my family. Both of my sons were Cub Scouts, and I endorse this type of family/child personal development program. Raleigh and Cary also are known for their excellent Indian Guides and Indian Princess programs sponsored by the YMCA.
Every chance I get, I enjoy cycling on the back roads around the triangle. This area is heavily populated by avid cyclists, and you can find many cycling clubs for all levels.
I am a supporter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Eastern NC Chapter. In 2003, I formed a cycling team with my friend John O'Neal, and we ride to raise money for the MS Society. Here's my team, the EZ Riders:
The Triangle area is a leader in medical services, medical education and research & development in the medical and pharmaceutical fields. Both Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill have world-class research hospitals, and N.C. State University has a world-class veterinary school. The Research Triangle Park, located in the center of the triangle formed by Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, is a world-renowned center for high tech, biotech and pharmaceutical research & development firms.
As you can see, there are many reasons why this area is the best place in the country to live and raise a family. I invite you to join my "family of clients and friends," and let me help you make the pursuit of great living in a great place a truly pleasurable experience.
